July 5, 2004: Grand Bahama, Bahamas
"Gayle's Grotto" - "Papa Doc's/Badger" - "Silver Point"
|
|
Three dives; one of them at a new site.
Diving off of Grand Bahama:
- Directions from Tampa: It's only about 55 miles off of the coast of Florida. You can go by boat or by plane ... talk to a travel agent.
- Conditions on the day of my visit: Sunny - very hot and humid. At least it felt that way.
- Personal Notes: Gayle's Grotto includes a couple of possible swimthroughs - thing is, on this first visit to this site, my sister pointed at a hole that turned out not to be anything like a grotto or swimthrough.
The dual wrecks of Papa Doc's/Badger were interesting, particularly the Silversides (and the things eating them) at Badger. Badger is well recognizable as a wreck and is surrounded by several coral heads - so if the wreck itself doesn't facinate you, the coral heads should.
The afternoon dive is always at Silver Point.
