Where I've Gone Down: 2001

Here's the list of dives from the year 2001. Depending on the year, not all dives from that year are listed. Weeki Wachee in particular saw a lot of me in 2000 and 2001, and it became sort of silly to put every one in the database ... since often there was nothing special to report.
  • May 5, 2001 Weeki Wachee, Florida
Got a new BC and was itching to try it out. Weeki Wachee is one of the best places I know of to test new gear.
  • May 12, 2001 Tarpon Springs, Florida
Scott, who is pretty much my dive instructor and boss at Neptune Divers of Weeki Wachee, was going into the gulf with Narcosis Scuba. It was Scott's first visit into the Gulf in over three years, as he is usually very busy running Neptune Divers.
  • May 19, 2001 West Palm Beach, Florida
My sister and I needed to get together so that I could obtain the rest of my gear that she was holding. I had already obtained my BC; my HP Steel 100's tanks came in the Tuesday before (purchased from Terrace Watersports); and she was holding my DIN 1st stage with the Oceanic Delta III second stage and a Suunto Cobra dive computer (purchased from Atlantic Pro Dive). Though we discussed hitting a park with a good shore dive, a check of the schedule showed that it would be low tide around noon ... this translated to 12 feet as a deepest depth, and probably a visibility of less than that. So we decided to go with Jim Abernathy's Scuba Adventures. John, a Dive Master who my sister dives with frequently, was going to go with us, and ended up working that day. He also wanted to try out a new strobe for his digital camera, so after the dives with JASA, we dove at Phil Foster Park.
  • June 9, 2001 Jacksonville Beach, Florida
I had been wanting to dive off of Jax Beach for a long time. Being the location of my first salt water dive ever, over two years before, it held some nostalgia for me. My sister sent me some email, letting me know she was going to try to get a group together, and I decided I could manage this quite easily.
  • Curacao 2001 - June 16, 2001 through June 23, 2001 - Curacao, Netherlands Antilles
  • June 30, 2001 Weeki Wachee, Florida
I had planned on visiting Weeki Wachee on Saturday to get some camera practice in ... lo and behold they called me and asked me to work that weekend.
  • July 21, 2001 West Palm Beach, Florida
A dive with Jim Abernathy's Scuba Adventures on the Infatuation. I was hoping for clear skies ... but it turned out that even they weren't needed that much. This was a trip with my sister and John.
  • August 4, 2001 Weeki Wachee, Florida
Wanted to get a little more diving in at Weeki Wachee before they cancelled Neptune Divers' contract.
  • December 8, 2001 Boynton Beach, Florida
More than four months since my last dive. Egads! It was about time ...
  • December 29, 2001 Boynton Beach, Florida
I drove to my parents house in Pensacola on the 21st, drove back to Tampa on the 27th, drove to my sister's in Boynton Beach on the 28th, and dove on the 29th and 30th. Was a busy couple of weeks for me. Also, I had a new mask, new hooded vest, and some other new gear I wanted to use on this dive. This was also my second dive with the Deeper, and I must say I'm happy with this particular boat and the crew that I've been with.
  • December 30, 2001 Boynton Beach, Florida
My first open ocean night dive. Previously I had done night dives at Weeki Wachee, and off-shore Curacao (on the House Reef).
