Where I've Gone Down: 2000

Here's the list of dives from the year 2000. Depending on the year, not all dives from that year are listed. Weeki Wachee in particular saw a lot of me in 2000 and 2001, and it became sort of silly to put every one in the database ... since often there was nothing special to report.
  • A Weeki Weekend - January 15, 2000 through January 16, 2000 - Weeki Wachee, Florida
  • February 5, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
I took Nitrox Classes through Temple Terrace Watersports. A requirement of the class was a couple of dives that involved signing off on Nitrox fills and then diving them. I took the tanks to Weeki Wachee since it was close by, the water was practically guaranteed to be at least 72 degrees. However, I did spend a good bit of time kicking myself for not doing this the week before ...
  • March 11, 2000 Madiera Beach, Florida
This was the weekend starting Spring Break for USF. Since it had been more than a month since I had dove, I was ready to go diving. Also, the previous November was the last time I had done a salt water dive, so I called up Scuba Quest. There was a reason for that, and that reason had yet to really change enough for me to be completely comfortable ...
  • March 18, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
An attempt to get some diving friends and some non-diving friends together for a day of fun. Failing that, it became a day to spend a lot of time under water, and a day of testing out my new Sea&Sea MX5 underwater camera, taking pictures. I need to do what I can to eliminate the complaints that I receive that state that my scuba pages do not contain enough pictures.
  • Bahamas 2000 - April 29, 2000 through May 4, 2000 - Grand Bahama, Bahamas
  • May 20, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
I needed to talk to Scott, preferably face to face, and figured the easiest way was to visit Weeki Wachee and dive.
  • A Stress and Rescue Weekend - June 3, 2000 through June 4, 2000 - Weeki Wachee, Florida
  • June 10, 2000 Clearwater Beach, Florida
My brother-in-law had a business meeting in St. Petersburg the previous week, and while here, wanted to do some spear fishing. He didn't catch anything ... which is not to say that our party came up empty handed ...
  • June 11, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
Well, I had one more specialty to finish up for my Master Diver certification from SSI, and in the morning the schedule showed it could be potentially busy, so Scott and I decided that it would be a good day for me to come up and do the lecture and written exam for my Deep Diving Specialty, as well as maybe do a little work.
  • July 4, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
I had been without a computer for more than three weeks as I wanted it sent back to the manufacturer to address an issue I had with it. To make matters worse, it had not gone back to the factory from the shop! The shop I was using was about to loose all patronage; the two in my area I've been dissatisfied with, for different reasons. One, the service is personable but sometimes takes a while to get that service. The other, I felt pressure sold on a particular brand of scuba gear ... particularly when I had already bought all my gear and was told that the brand I had chosen was bad. Anyway, I purchased some gauges so that I could dive, anticipating that even when the computer made it back to the manufacturer it would be a while before I would see it again.
  • July 8, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
Scott was off today and they asked that I come in and do a little work ... so I did. I probably would have gone in spite of this, since my sister was going to be there with John and Anne, and two students.
  • July 16, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
My parents were down from Pensacola, visiting me; one of the things I wanted to do during their visit was show off where I worked. Considering that I "kinda" work at Weeki Wachee, a visit was in order. While there, I did a dive, of course.
  • July 22, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
A busy dive day at Weeki Wachee, as well as a night dive, which for safety reasons should always include a Dive Guide. This day, that was me!
  • August 6, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
What should have been a busy day was quite thin, probably due to the fact that it was "Tax Free" week and school started soon for most folks. Some dive vendors were down showing off some wares.
  • August 12, 2000 West Palm Beach, Florida
I frequently read, and often post, to The Rodale's message board, Diver-to-Diver; I find it a valuable resource for divers. A group of us got together and commandeered half of one of the boats that Jim Abernathy's Scuba Adventures runs.
  • August 20, 2000 Weeki Wachee, Florida
First time I've ever really had to do anything that involved "Stress and Rescue."
  • October 14, 2000 Orange City, Florida
Well, originally the Rodale's group was scheduled to go off-shore West Palm Beach ... however, with 7-10 foot seas and 15 foot visibility, it didn't happen. My sister then tried calling someone on the Gulf Coast, but visibility over there was 6 inches. So we went to Blue Spring.
  • November 18, 2000 West Palm Beach, Florida
This was the Rodale's group originally scheduled for October 14th.
  • December 17, 2000 Williston, Florida
Originally planned to be a dive in Blue Spring, we ended up practically on the other side of the state before we hit water.
